Saudi Arabia is one of the countries in the world that is attracting more and more tourists because of its cultural wealth. Long closed to visitors, this country of the holy places of Islam is now opening its borders to tourism. Since September 2019, it has been possible to obtain a tourist e-visa for this country. But who is this document for, and how long can you stay? We give you the lowdown.

How long can I stay in Saudi Arabia with an e-visa?

After several years of consideration, the Saudi authorities have decided to make electronic visa issuance a reality. Operational since the last quarter of 2019, this system allows you to obtain your visa without travelling. Remember that the residence document obtained online has the same value as the paper visa obtained from the embassy. The e-visa is valid for 1 year from the date of issue. However, the length of stay is strictly limited to 90 days. This means that you cannot spend more than three months in the country.

However, as this is a tourist visa, it allows the holder multiple entries. As a result, there is no limit on the number of times you can enter Saudi Arabia. Obtaining this visa is not difficult. All you have to do is visit the website set up by the Saudi Arabian government and follow the various steps involved in submitting your application. It will only take a few minutes. But first, make sure that your country is eligible for the Saudi e-visa before starting the application procedure. This will prevent you from wasting time and ultimately having your application rejected.

Who is eligible for a Saudi e-visa?

One of the conditions for obtaining a Saudi Arabia visa is that you must be over 18. You must be over 18 before the date of application. The visa is also valid for some fifty countries, including those of the European Union. If you are not a national of a country eligible for this visa programme, you will not be able to benefit from it. The Saudi e-visa is obtained with insurance. You must show both documents before entering the country. Tourists entering Saudi Arabia are not permitted to visit the entire country. Certain places, such as Mecca and Medina, are off-limits to them unless they are Muslims and truly practise their religion.

You can also entrust your administrative procedures for obtaining your electronic visas to a private company.
