Is it necessary to apply for a Saudi Arabia e-Visa for a minor child?

Saudi Arabia is a world-class destination. It receives millions of visitors every year for the pilgrimage to Mecca. Thanks to the e-Visa, this country is more than just a religious or commercial destination. Many parents are accompanied by their children when they travel to Saudi Arabia. But do children need an e-Visa?

What are the conditions for applying for an e-Visa for a minor?

Minors are eligible to apply for a e-Saudi Arabia Visa, but under special conditions. Firstly, they must be accompanied by an adult parent during the application process. This parent is also required to apply at the same time as the minor child. Secondly, the minor must be of one of the nationalities listed among the countries eligible to apply for an e-visa. The final condition concerns the documents to be provided, namely :

  • a passport photo,
  • a copy of the passport information page,
  • an up-to-date vaccination record,
  • an identity certificate from the adult parent.

These documents may vary depending on the country or agency you use. In addition, this visa does not give non-Muslims access to the cities of Mecca and Medina.

How do I apply for an e-Visa for minors?

The application is not made by the minor himself. Although the minor's presence is required, it is the adult parent who carries out the formalities on the minor's behalf. This is even easier when the application is made online. Each country eligible for an e-visa has a website for receiving applications. On this site, a form is made available to visa applicants. Once completed and submitted, all you have to do is wait for the e-Visa to be e-mailed to you.

At the same time, there are agencies that take care of obtaining electronic visas. This is a paying service, which for the majority is beneficial. These agencies are responsible for registering minors who meet the above conditions directly on the Saudi authorities' website. This is a two-stage procedure, involving online pre-registration and the actual submission of applications.

It is compulsory for minors to apply for an e-visa. However, minors are not exempt from the conditions governing applications for this type of visa. Minors must be accompanied by a parent of legal age when applying for a visa.
